HiPhi is getting ready to unveil a rival to the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire that should have significantly more power than the standard model
Revealed through patent images and teasers from China, the HiPhi Z all-electric sedan is set to receive an enhanced performance variant. In its standard configuration, the HiPhi Z boasts 672 hp and 605 lb-ft (820 Nm) of torque from its dual electric motors—a formidable setup for an electric sedan. However, the market is witnessing the emergence of electric powerhouses like the Tesla Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire, Zeekr 001 FR, and an upcoming tri-motor version of the Porsche Taycan, all exceeding 1,000 hp.
The revealed teasers and patent images, as reported by Auto Week, showcase a striking aerodynamic overhaul for this new Z iteration. Notable changes include a revamped front end with an imposing splitter featuring prominent fins on its outer edges. HiPhi has also introduced a novel hood design with a sleek channel beneath a small spoiler, positioned just above the license plate location.
These images also reveal that the high-performance HiPhi Z variant will feature distinctive wheels and customized side skirts adorned with substantial fins at the rear doors. In stark contrast to the Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire’s subtlety, this Z variant stands out with a bold and unconventional design. The most striking alterations are concentrated at the rear, where a pair of roof-mounted spoilers and a more pronounced diffuser catch the eye.
Although specific technical specifications for the ultimate Z version remain undisclosed, the release of teaser images hints at an imminent real-world appearance. If we were to speculate, it’s likely to adopt a tri-motor setup, akin to its competitors, potentially producing well over 1,000 hp. The audacious aerodynamic enhancements further suggest that it could generate significantly more downforce compared to the Model S Plaid and Air Sapphire.
